Little Havana’s new Tower Hotel is finally opening this September

Little Havana has been hearing a lot about the coming Tower Hotel over the last year. Originally built in 1920, the historic property has been a witness to Little Havana’s immense changes over its lifespan (and even got to host an immersive play celebrating the neighborhood’s history last year). Back when it was a functioning hotel, stars such as Billie Holiday and Chet Baker stayed there after playing at the nearby Ball & Chain—which is also enjoying an insanely successful post-restoration life. Now, the property finds itself smack in the center of Calle Ocho’s resurgence, and international hospitality group Selina is eager to get things going.

Together with Miami’s Barlington Group, Selina will transform the Tower Hotel into a retro boutique, the first hotel to hit Calle Ocho’s main strip. According to a release from Selina, it’ll be ready for business by September.

Selina, who operate hotels and coworking spaces throughout South American and the Caribbean, are very excited for their Miami debut—so much so that they’re launching a sort of preview collaboration with the Wynwood store Brothers & Brawlers that will be a combination of a coworking and retail space. That should be open in July in Wynwood.

Renderings have been released for the Tower Hotel. They show a hip modern space with retro touches and bright patterns of pink and green. There’s also a pretty snazzy looking deck and pool along the side of the hotel that looks like the perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon knocking back rum drinks. Is it September yet?
