Art Basel is usually the time of year when we get to scratch our heads at some seriously weird press releases. But this Miami Music Week event is giving weird Basel a run for its money.

Apparently, NBA slam-dunker and professional Charles Barkley antagonist Shaquille O’Neal is throwing an EDM carnival party on March 24 during Miami Music Week where he will DJ from 2am to sunrise. O’Neal will be spinning at the affair under his DJ name, DJ Diesel. The whole thing will be called “Shaq’s Fun House.” Mr. O’Neal promises some special guests as well.

We’d suspect this was a hoax if we didn’t see it today in the New York Times. It honestly still could be a hoax. The article (which sounds like it was written by your aunt who has never heard of EDM) lists a website at the bottom of the article (shaqsfunhouse.com) which is, at the time of this writing, not working.

But, lord, we hope this is real because it sounds amazing. The article quotes Shaq as saying that his MMW party will have “flame throwers, people swinging from ceilings, a lot of costumes.” He goes on: “I like to read the crowd and see what they like, but I want to hit them with that base [sic, we’re assuming], edgy trap. I like all types of music. I’m mixture [sic] of AoB [sic, again. We're assuming he said Aoki?] and Skrillex.”

The article says the party will be invite-only and take place at an unannounced warehouse. But—we promise—the moment we get more details on how to get into this big ball of weird, we will let you know.
