Fri 6

Lyric Live @ The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater

Season five of Lyric Live, Overtown’s own version of Harlem’s Live at the Apollo, kicks off Friday. Watch amateur performers from all over South Florida compete to win the night’s coveted $500 prize. The best part? You’re the judge, as the audience decides the winners, which earn cash and a slot in the annual February AllStar Showcase. Expect to see dance, comedy, singing and so much more.

First Fridays at the Yard

Florida folk artist Keith Jones continues his monthly residency at the Wynwood Yard with a free performance. Bring a blanket and chairs and arrive early to check out ZOLA’s debut album release party.

Sat 7

Fashion + Art + Music Night

Roam Coconut Grove on the first Saturday of each month, when the neighborhood shops and galleries open their doors for an art, fashion and music showcase. This is the last F+A+M Night of the season until the outdoor event returns fall 2018, which means more live music hitting the streets, especially along Commodore Plaza.

Sprung Beer Festival

Wynwood has become a mecca for craft beer, which is why it’s no surprise to see the Sprung Beer Festival—celebrating the best local brews in South Florida—return to Wynwood this April. Bringing together more than 300 brewskis, the one-day event unites thousands as they eat and drink their way through one of Miami’s booziest afternoons.

Gloria

An average, hectic day in the office of a beleaguered Manhattan magazine is disrupted by a shocking act of violence, in playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’s scabrous meditation on workplace terrorism. Timely, hard-hitting and sharp-witted, it’s an ideal show for the provocative GableStage.

Qatar Roadshow

Immerse yourself in all things Qatar at this two-day festival celebrating the Middle Eastern country. Sample Arabic coffee and dates in the Souq Waqif Market, experience authentic Qatari art and architecture and kick around a soccer ball in pop-up pitch. The Miami Heat’s Justice Winslow, Dolphins player Kenny Stills and others make appearances throughout the weekend.

Sun 8

Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade

The street parade begins with opening remarks from one of this year’s grand marshals, local favorite Roxanne Vargas, before a caravan of glittering floats (more than 70 entries have been received) travel 10 blocks down Ocean Drive. It all wraps up at 9pm with a spectacular fireworks display over Lummus Park. (Ocean Dr between 5th and 15th Sts)
