Fri 9

If I Forget

The legacy of the Holocaust lingers in the background of this familial dramedy, set during the 75th birthday party of a patriarch in the months leading up to 9/11. His son, Michael, an atheistic scholar of Judaism, has just written a controversial book on why Jews should forget the Shoah—which inspires one of several incendiary conflicts.

Rufus Wainwright

The celebrated musician and composer returns to South Florida, gracing us with his signature operatic tunes. With eight studio albums, three live albums and countless collaborations with celebrated artists, a Wainwright performance is one not to be missed.

Sat 10

I Am Not Your Negro film screening

The award-winning flick aims to contextualize race relations in the U.S. by looking at the tragic deaths of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Medgar Evers. MOCA screens the Raoul Peck film for free (with the price of admission) as part of its Black History Month celebrations.

Nicky Jam & Plan B

One of the biggest names in reggaeton music— responsible for putting out hits like “Travesuras,” “El Perdón” and “Hasta el Amanecer”—returns to South Florida in support of his latest album, Fénix. Following shows in cities around the world, the crossover talent’s current world tour might be his last time on the road for a while: This summer, Netflix releases Nicky Jam: El Ganador, a fictional bio-series based on the life and career of the Latin superstar. Puerto Rican duo Plan B opens.

Sun 11

Saffron Supper Club

The popular traveling dinner series pops up at Daniel Boulud’s new Mediterranean restaurant Boulud Sud. The three-course, family-style meal draws from the flavors of Morocco Tunisia, Lebanon, Turkey and beyond and features several of the restaurant’s signature dishes such as chickpea croquettes, lamb flatbread and chicken tagine. As is true of all Saffron Supper Clubs, guests can enjoy poetry, culture, music and perhaps even some sparkler-festooned platters.

Plant Miami's guest chef series with Nivel Patel

Wynwood’s vegan oasis Plant Miami welcomes Ghee Indian Kitchen’s chef Niven Patel for its newly launched guest chef series. The four-course, Indian-inspired menu incorporates locally sourced ingredients from Paradise Farms and Rancho Patel, the chef’s very own farm in Homestead. Dishes will be paired with local craft beers and specialty cocktails designed to highlight the meal.
