Fri 26

“Fresh Threads”

This isn’t your grandma’s idea of knitting. MOCA’s latest is one big yarn bomb—a type of street art that uses yarn and other fibers to cover public structures—that’s taken over numerous corners of the building. The temporary display, curated by Gregory Pierre-Louis, was created in collaboration with Fantastic Fibers Miami and remain on view through next Friday. Tonight’s presentation coincides with Jazz at MOCA, featuring a free performance by Troy Roberts at 8pm.

Miami Design District Performance Series

Get out and enjoy this glorious weather at Palm Court’s weekly outdoor concert. Tonight’s event includes performances by Victor Espinola, Venezuelan Latin Ensemble 7/4 and singer Nani. Formerly the Palm Court Performance Series, the weekly concert is presented by the Knight Foundation, is free and open to people of all ages.

Sat 27

Pegasus World Cup

The richest horse race in the world (with a $16 million dollar purse on the line) comes to Gulfstream Park. Not into horses? Come for the atmosphere, which will be bordering on South Beach nightclub thanks to a day party hosted by LIV’s David Grutman.

Noises Off

Nine actors, seven of whom double as characters in a play within the play, put their best comic timing to the test in Michael Frayn’s uproarious, demanding 1982 farce. Considered the high-water mark of the modern farce, Noises Off features slamming doors, dropped trousers and the inspired deployment of sardines.

Sun 28

Brews & Brushes

You’ve heard of painting with a twist: you sip wine while drunkenly paint a canvas you’re probably going to toss the second it’s done. Brews & Brushes is a little different. Miami Muralist Dave Lavernia leads the fun class in which you drink Veza Sur’s tasty brews and get help painting a beer glass that doubles as your souvenir.

Southern Soul Sunday

Switch up your usual weekend routine with brunch at the A+E District (home to everyone’s favorite Miami Flea). Feast on egg-y and syrupy dishes from local vendors, like Ms. Cheezious and Box of Chacos, while listening to live music by Affiliated Soul Team and Vanya Allen. As for booze—because it wouldn’t be called brunch if you weren’t day drinking—Unbranded Brewing Co. has that covered. (1418 NE Miami Ct)
