Fri 5

Cirque du Soleil: Volta

Cirque du Soleil’s 41st production could be its most futuristic show to date, with an electro-pop soundtrack by indie hitmakers M83 and a premise that takes viewers light years into space. Volta, like many other Cirque productions, centers around a conflicted main character named Waz whose journey to enlightenment is chronicled through explosive performances and spellbinding acrobatics. It’s not your typical story of personal transformation, as characters in technicolor costumes leap across the stage, rollerblade by and fly over audiences.

Sat 6

Villain Happy Hour

Think you have what it takes to succeed as a comic? Has trying stand-up always been a dream? This new happy hour/mixer on the first Saturday of the month gives you the opportunity to meet current Villain members and try your hand at a bit or two. Your ticket includes entry to Villain’s popular Saturday Gigantic show.

Full Moon Over Miami River Cruise

Ever wondered what downtown Miami was like before it was dotted by skyscrapers? What do you really know about the Tequesta Indians, Brickell’s earliest inhabitants? Hop aboard the Pelican Skipper catamaran and get answers to these and other questions on Dr. Paul George’s popular monthly cruise down the Miami River. The boat sets off from Bayside Marketplace and guests can bring drinks and snacks on board. Admission to HistoryMiami is included in the ticket price.

Sun 7

Shaker Sunday Doggie Daze

Christmas came and went and you still didn’t get the puppy you’ve been wanting. Take matters into your own hands at the Broken Shaker’s Sunday barbecue, where Miami-Dade Animal Services sets up shop with tons of adorable dogs you can adopt on the spot from 1 to 3pm. Woof Equals Love and Mutt Munch Dog Treats stick around till later.

Bazaar on Sundays

Joining Miami’s legions of outdoor markets is Española Way’s new weekend bazaar. Launched in collaboration with the Market Company, which runs all sorts of fairs and markets around town, this weekly event is where you’ll go to shop for clothing, artisanal wares and gourmet treats. And for the retail averse, a lovely stroll down the charming thoroughfare doesn’t hurt.

Goat Yoga

The cutest fitness trend to hit the internet has found its way to Miami. Red Cheetah Yoga leads the class on the field of John A. Ferguson High School (15900 SW 56th St), where you’ll go through your standard flow while little baby goats attempt to climb you. Students are required to bring their own mat, towel and water.
