Fri 6

First Fridays Beach Picnic

It’s official: summer is here and it kicks off with the first of four free monthly beach picnics in Surfside this season. Each fete is themed, with July 6’s bash celebrating the harvest season. Snack on farm-to-table treats, bring your own mangos and coconuts to a DIY smoothie station, taste a bounty of fruits and vegetables and hoedown to a live bluegrass band. The picnic takes place on the sand behind the Surfside Community Center.

Erasure

Hot off a sold-out European tour, seminal synthpop duo Erasure descends on South Beach to perform tracks off their latest album, 2017’s World Be Gone, as well as ‘80s favorites such as “Chains of Love” and “Ship of Fools.”

CONNECT

Catch performances by an array of local musicians hailing from different corners of the city during CONNECT, a pop-up musical showcase featuring Miami-born talent. Pablo Adan paints a mural live between sets from Real Live Animals, Wax Nerve, Yazmine and others. 3201 NW Seventh Ave Cir

Sat 7

You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown

Need a break from this season’s summer blockbusters? Take the kiddos to a live musical production of the Charles Schulz adorable comic. Catch the whole gang—Lucy, Sally, Charlie, Schroeder—in short vignettes even the littlest ones in your brood will enjoy.

Summer Yoga Flow at Aventura Mall

There isn’t a ton you can’t do at Aventura Mall these days, including yoga. Bring your own mat to the top floor of the center’s new wing and partake in a free, hour-long session designed for all fitness levels. It might be the most Zen experience you’ll ever have at a mall—period. RSVP is required.

World Chocolate Day

Observe the sweet holiday at Exquisito Chocolates—the city’s first true bean-to-bar factory—which rings in the special day with three tours of its Little Havana facilities. You’ll see how they turn cacao beans from around the world into exquisite candies and get to sample some of their delicious confections.

Sun 8

I'm Gonna Pray for You So Hard

This two-character play takes place during a drug-fueled evening as a competitive young actress contends with her equally pugnacious playwright father. They project insults, bruise egos and skewer the theater establishment in a scabrous dramedy penned by Halley Feiffer, daughter of celebrated cartoonist Jules Feiffer.
