The Balloon Museum will pop up in Wynwood next month, bringing its globe-trotting, highly Instagrammable “Pop Air” exhibition to Mana Wynwood starting on May 16. The concept is simple, but also kind of wild: it’s an entire exhibition dedicated to inflatable art. This won’t be just a few balloon sculptures tucked into a gallery, but instead a full-scale, immersive environment where everything revolves around air.

“Pop Air” has already made stops in cities like Rome, Paris, New York and Los Angeles, building a reputation as an art experience that’s both fun to look at and move through. And that’s the whole point—this is not a “stand quietly and observe” situation. You’re encouraged to wander, touch, interact and probably take a lot of photos.

Inside, the exhibition pulls together large-scale works from a lineup of contemporary artists working at the intersection of art, design and technology. Highlights include a luminous, projection-filled ecosystem by Hyperstudio, a suspended sphere installation that moves with visitors and a geometric inflatable labyrinth by Cyril Lancelin that shifts your sense of space as you walk through it. There’s also a massive LED-lit butterfly you can power by swinging, plus a room where balloons swirl in controlled “tornadoes.”

The Miami edition lands in Wynwood, which makes sense. The neighborhood’s already known for its street art, galleries and general anything-goes creative energy and Mana Wynwood’s cavernous industrial space gives these oversized installations plenty of room to breathe (again, literally).

Tickets are on sale now, starting around $41 for adults, with timed entry throughout the week. Hours vary slightly by day, but expect afternoon openings on weekdays and earlier access on weekends.
