Being a woman is great. I can tell you this from personal experience. We’re smarter, smell nicer and are better listeners than men. But being a lady also comes with its own set of challenges—and it’s not just that we’re paid less. The real financial burden is the infamous Pink Tax, the sneaky surcharge companies place on products marketed to women.
According to a national study, women pay an average of 42 percent more on products than men, which sums up to approximately $1,351 per year. So this April, South Florida-based European Wax Center lessens the blow with their #AxThePinkTax initiative, a monthlong discount on all products and services offered at their 600-plus locations nationwide. Pop in now through May 1 and receive a fitting 13.51 percent off all waxes and purchases. The promotion, while a needed respite from the pervasive price gouging, is also the company’s way of raising awareness of the unfair practice.
Painful or not, now might be a good time to book that wax you’ve been putting off. If we’re going to stick it to the patriarchy, we may as well do it while sporting smooth skin.
