With bars in the county still closed, watering holes are getting creative with their spaces. Case in point: Little Havana speakeasy Los Altos, which this week turns its upstairs hideaway into a not-so-secret, socially distant supper club.
While there won’t be a charming Mexican woman welcoming you into her fake candy store that leads into a nightclub, you will get to walk up the same flight of stairs, where you’ll be handed a mezcal cocktail before slinking into one of Los Altos’ VIP booths for a family-style dinner.
The prix-fixe meal includes shared Mexican plates, such as beef flautas, refried beans and enchiladas from sister restaurant below, Taquerias el Mexicano. A welcome cocktail (the aforementioned mezcal concoction) a drink with your meal and a beverage to accompany your dessert are all included in the $49 price per person. There’s also a full bar filled with spirits, beer and wine should you want more booze to supplement your feast.
Reservations are available daily with two seatings at 6pm and 9pm Sunday through Thursday, and 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Parties will be limited to four people (six if you can prove you live in the household—which, let’s be honest, is highly unlikely), but Los Altos cleared its couches in the center and added more tables, so there will be plenty of room for socially distant dining. Dancing, however, will have to wait.
