Forget grilling! James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Mina is whipping up the ultimate barbecue at his summer pop-up inside his namesake restaurant at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Now through September 5th, the typically upscale steakhouse is being transformed into a casual, family-friendly restaurant serving up everyone’s favorite seasonal staples with an epicurean edge. The simple, straightforward menu consists of gourmet burgers, made-from-scratch pizzas, fresh salads and homemade desserts. The mouthwatering scent that envelopes you the moment you descend the stairs from the hotel lobby into the restaurant is likely coming from tasty dishes like the Cuban Frita (beef, chorizo, smoked paprika aioli and crispy potato) and the Surf, a decadent lobster-topped pizza that’s a summery take on Mina’s popular lobster potpie. For dessert, they’re keeping it simple and crowd-pleasing, serving up three freshly baked cakes every day: carrot, dark chocolate and key lime.
