The Mexican brings its Big Dallas Energy from the Lone Star State to Brickell Key, one of Miami’s ritziest enclaves. Expect refined Northern Mexican cuisine (its owner is a Monterrey native) and an extensive tequila and mezcal program in a dazzling indoor-outdoor space.
The vibe: With floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the lush, towering Brickell waterfront, The Mexican feels like a special-occasion spot. Sparkly dresses, complimentary Champagne flutes and tableside tequila service are typical.
The food: Highlights include a vibrant sea bass ceviche and the smoky camarones gobernador taco. If you’re with a group, put in an order of the lobster elote—it’s delicious and far too decadent for a table of two. The campechana dessert is also gigantic and stunning to behold.
The drinks: Guests enter The Mexican through a curated “tequila gallery,” where hundreds of rare and collectible bottles line the walls. This sets the tone for a largely agave-based drinks menu with more than 10 craft margarita options, carajillos and even seasonal cocktails.
Time Out tip: Book a table on the patio during brunch for a festive weekend outing on the water.
