We can't think of a more idyllic way to spend a springtime afternoon than learning to hula dance with the salty breeze in our hair. That's exactly what you can do on Saturday, April 19 during this free, all-ages celebration of Polynesian culture and island sports at the historic Miami Marine Stadium. From 7am until 6pm, graze on South Pacific islands-inspired eats like shrimp rice plates, poke and shaved ice; browse handcrafted jewelry and woven goods, and catch nonstop entertainment, from DJ sets and live music to lei-making workshops and traditional dance performances. Learn the art of Ori Tahiti (Tahitian dance) and hula in classes led by Na'i Tahiti Nui Tahitian Academy (registration required), or take part in ancestral games like fruit carrying, stone lifting and beach wrestling. Over at the rowing center, catch the second-annual Black Belt Paddler Challenge, where elite outrigger canoe racers will compete in a high-octane homage to traditional Polynesian water sports.
