Building on the artist’s installation at the recent MoMA show “Reconstructions: Architecture and Blackness in America,” Germane Barnes presents “Rosie’s Fare,” an unconventional kitchen facade erected within the Oolite Arts gallery space. Paired with audio interviews from Puerto Rican, Jamaican and Haitian families in Miami, Barnes’ exhibit explores the role the kitchen plays in Black identity in America while paying tribute to his grandmother and celebrating Black contributions to American cuisine that are often removed or ignored.
