In 1926, Miami was hit by a hurricane so devastating it effectively ended the city's first real estate boom and nearly wiped it off the map. Historian and This Day in Miami History podcast host Matthew Bunch brings that story to the Main House courtyard at Vizcaya on Earth Day, tracing the natural and human-made disasters that pushed the rapidly growing city to the brink and ultimately helped forge the Miami we know today. Doors open at 7pm with complimentary wine; the talk begins at 7:30pm. Tickets from $7.18 at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, 3251 S. Miami Ave.
