May 2021: Love Life Cafe is no longer at Time Out Market Miami but you can visit their brick-and-mortar in Wynwood.

Welcome to Food Envy, where we’ll highlight different dishes from Time Out Market Miami that we think you’re going to love—partly because we do. This week, Love Life Cafe’s incredibly satisfying namesake salad.

Salad life doesn’t always have to be a sad life. As any greens enthusiast will tell you, a heaping bowl of crisp lettuce and fresh veggies can spark as much joy as a juicy cheeseburger. Trust us. If this is the point where you stop reading because you think we lack taste buds or we’re just trying really hard to peddle a Time Out Market Miami dish, hear us out. There is such a thing as a satisfying salad and it lives at the Life Life Cafe eatery.

The vegan kitchen’s namesake dish is an oversize bowl of goodness‚ both literally and flavor-wise. Ingredients are clustered neatly at the top: garbanzo beans, shredded carrots, cubed cucumbers, halved cherry tomatoes, sliced avocado, a scoop of pillowy quinoa, chunks of cooked sweet plantains and steamed zucchini and squash. Below the colorful arrangement are dressed mixed greens, which are tossed and lightly coated in a simple house-made dressing that combines olive oil, vinegar and fresh basil. It’s large enough to share or just the right size for one very hungry vegetable lover. Though if you’re going at it solo, this one won’t immediately wilt, holding up long enough to make it to your next feeding. Name a better salad. We’ll wait.
