Spas in Montreal are now open for massages and treatments: Here's where to go

June 15 marked the day when the city could receive beauty treatments, and that means spas can serve Montrealers

As of Monday, June 15, Montrealers are once again able to access the services of spas in Montreal. Many places in the city have been gradually preparing as the province continues moving forward with its deconfinement plans; the same date also marked when hair salons, barbershops and estheticians, as well as tattoo and body piercing shops could reopen.

For spas, however, not all of the services will be immediately available as public health mandates and safety recommendations currently bar clients from certain activities. While massages, body treatments, facials, manicures and pedicures will be made available at many popular addresses, baths continue to be closed off to the public.

For Montrealers who want to visit their favourite spots, they can expect them to be operating at half capacity due to social distancing regulations, sanitization measures being available, plexiglass separators at points of contact like cashiers and the possibility of buying disposal kits for nails to minimize contact even further.

Here's the best of what's on offer right now:

Scandinave Spa Vieux-Montreal

Personal massages on back on offer at this Old Montreal spa, but the rooms for duo massages remain closed. Right now, there's a 10% discount at check-in until June 21st, so it's best to jump on and grab that appointment while you can.

Whether it's at their Montreal location on Nuns' Island or elsewhere in the province, the spa is open at half capacity for massages and beauty treatments with waiting areas set up to give visitors a sense of exclusivity during their stay.

Bota Bota

Unlike other notable spas in the city, Bota Bota plans to open its massage therapy services to the public on June 22. Handwashing, social distancing, and employee safety are being prioritized and clients must wear masks when coming for their appointment. They have been taking reservations since June 1, so there's still time to book something for the big day (hint: Father's Day is coming up).

Spa William Gray in Old Montreal has now reopened for its massages, manicures, pedicures, facials and hair removal services, but areas like its termal experiences remain closed. Curiously enough, the spa notes its pool is open—likely because it's private for clients. Masks are mandatory, but one will be provided for customers who don't have one. Booking online is the best way to go, and try to use contactless payment when you go.

Spa Escale Santé

If you're looking for something on the eastern side of the island, this spa's massage therapy and osteopathy treatment services are now available. While baths aren't available during appointments, Escale Santé is going to give clients free access to baths during future visits—a voucher that can be added to your file.
