On the heels of the reports that Canadian travel is shifting as U.S. trips plunge and overseas travel hits record-breaking high, the cost of Canadian travel documents is spiking.

Are passport fees increasing in 2026?

The new Canadian passport and travel document fees kick off March 31, 2026.

According to the Government of Canada site, the increase reflects inflation and service delivery costs, and will adjust annually in accordance with the Service Fees Act.

If your application is received on or after March 31, 2026, you will need to pay the new fee.
