From some of the best tacos in Montreal to the city’s go-to destination for Cantonese barbecue, these two culinary standouts are joining the Market.

You’ve never had tacos—or Cantonese barbecue—quite like this before.
Time Out Market Montréal, home to some of the best chefs and restaurants in the city under one roof, is welcoming two new culinary additions: Dobe & Andy and La Capital Tacos.

On one side, La Capital Tacos—a pillar of Montréal’s Mexican food scene and a benchmark on Saint-Laurent Boulevard—and on the other, Dobe & Andy—a Chinatown institution and cult favourite for Cantonese BBQ lovers. Two eateries driven by the same obsession: doing things with precision and generosity.
Located in the heart of Downtown inside the Montréal Eaton Centre, Time Out Market Montréal is spread across 40,000 square feet—a cultural and culinary destination with 15 eateries, 7 bars, and cultural spaces for events, art installations, music, and more.

A pioneer of Montréal’s Mexican food scene, La Capital Tacos (celebrating 11 years at their Saint-Laurent Boulevard address) reflects Geoffrey Emiliano Moreau’s roots between Monterrey and Tijuana, with serious heart in every bite.
“When I was eight, my family moved to Monterrey, Nuevo León, in northern Mexico. Monterrey shaped a lot of who I am, especially around food. My Mexican grandmother owned a restaurant called Super Cocina—it was a big part of family life,” Moreau explains.
Elevating his authentic dishes with the daily nixtamalization of corn, an ancestral process that enhances flavour and nutrition, each stone-ground, pressed tortilla is made from scratch every day—wheat or corn—and topped with braised meats or roasted vegetables.
“Nixtamalization isn't just a technique, it's the foundation of what makes a good tortilla,” says Moreau. “Making close to 1,000 tortillas a day while holding onto that process is a real commitment. It's slow, it's physical, and there are no shortcuts. But that's exactly the point.”
Slow-roasted, intensely flavourful pork, coriander, grilled pineapple and a side of jalapeño? Or beer-battered shrimp, pico de gallo, chipotle mayo and avocado sauce? La Capital’s menu is bursting with bright flavours—a taste of Mexico in the heart of Montréal. Can’t choose? Grab some friends and try it all, starting with fresh guacamole and house-made tortilla chips, and ending with the signature Tres Leches.
This hidden gem in Chinatown, inspired by Hong Kong’s vibrant food scene, has been a staple for lovers of Chinese cuisine since 1994. Named after the owners’ parents, brothers Edmund, Eric and Edward are co-owners of the business with chef Webster Galman (formerly of Le Garde-Manger, Liverpool House and Au Pied de Cochon).
Dobe & Andy are just as famous for their mouthwatering Cantonese BBQ as they are for their celebrated Montreal pop-ups that include collaborations with restaurants across the city like Satay Brothers, Kamuy, Fleurs et Cadeaux, Bistro Amerigo, Daleys Jerk and Ca lem—just to name a few.
“Dobe & Andy is the one putting Cantonese barbecue on the map in Montreal and Quebec City,” says Chef Phong Thach.
Get ready for the most succulent roast duck you’ve ever had, impossibly crispy pork belly and sticky, lip-smacking charsiu. Spice up your life with noodles, or a refreshingly sharp cucumber salad. And don’t forget to order the unmissable Hong Kong Milk Tea.
“Cantonese barbecue is something I’ve been doing for 30 years now, on and off. What sets us apart is we’re second generation and we’re using more than the old techniques,” explains Chef Eric Ku. “20 years ago, people would look in the windows and say “What is that?” and now they enjoy charsiu, they enjoy the duck… it’s really about education.”
With La Capital Tacos and Dobe & Andy, Time Out Market Montréal is upping its culinary game with two eateries that reflect an essential part of Montréal’s food culture in their own way: a city open to the world, rooted in craftsmanship, family lore, and beloved neighbourhood institutions that have become true landmarks.
These two additions further establish the Market as a go-to destination in downtown Montréal, offering both a chance to rediscover local favourites and to experience some of the most vibrant expressions of the city’s culinary scene.
But don’t just take our word for it.
