Montreal cat lovers unite!

First it was a dog parade in Montreal’s Saint-Henri neighbourhood.

Then it was the largest gathering of Shibas and Akitas in Canada.

Now, Montreal is host to neighbourhood cat tours.

The July and August events, which raised money for Chatons Orphelins Montreal, took feline fans on a  3.5 kilometre walking tour of Montreal’s Villeray neighbourhood to meet about 12 cat owners who showcased their cats to visitors.

Cat owners signed up their cats, and then event organizers chose a neighbourhood to explore.

According to the cat registration form, the Montreal Cat Tour is a walking tour that guides participants along a set route to spot friendly neighbourhood cats—either lounging in windows or relaxing on balconies.

Cats can stay safely indoors and visible from a window—no need to go outside or be touched.

Organizers asked participants to refrain from bringing or feeding the cats any treats unless you have permission from their owner.
