Montreal Halloween updated forecast: up to 100 mm of rain and severe weather warning in effect

A major low-pressure system is set to sweep across Quebec along the St. Lawrence River, bringing heavy rainfall and high winds with it.

A severe weather alert was issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada this morning for Montreal.

The rainfall warning for heavy precipitation is expected overnight Thursday night until midday Friday, with the rain easing later in the day on Friday.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant impacts are expected due to rainfall amounts.

A low-pressure system drawing moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Melissa is expected to bring up to 100 mm of rain to southern Quebec by Saturday evening.

Expect wind gusts reaching up to 70 km/h during trick-or-treating on Friday.
