Skiers, hikers, and snow-lovers will rejoice: below-normal temperatures and an active storm track promise near- or above-average snowfall, with a colder start and more wintry weather through December than in recent years.
Temperatures are expected to stay below average well into January, though the latter half of winter could bring more variable conditions and a possible stretch of milder weather.
While the active storm track will keep precipitation and snowfall near or above normal, southern regions may see a few tricky storms with a risk of ice and occasional rain, especially later in the season.
