Discover Madison, Inc. has announced the completion of a 980 foot long walking trail at the historic Amqui Station. The community is invited to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Amqui Station Walking Trail on Sunday afternoon, January 29. The walking trail is the result of an Eagle Scout project by Daniel Sutherland of Troop 157 in Hendersonville.

The official Grand Opening will begin at 4:00 p.m. on the Pavilion of the Amqui Station and Visitor’s Center and will conclude with an invitation to everyone in attendance to “Walk the Trail”. Dogs are welcome on a leash and under the owners control.

Developing a walking trail on the Amqui Station property has been in the planning stages for almost two years. When Daniel approached the DMI board about an Eagle Scout project and learned of the walking trail, he quickly proposed building one for his Eagle Scout project.

As an Eagle candidate, Daniel coordinated all aspects of his project, from planning it to raising needed funds, gathering assets, and finding volunteers.

According to Daniel, the Amqui Station Walking Trail is “the perfect example of what can be accomplished when an organization like Discover Madison and the Boy Scouts work together to benefit the community.”
