On Saturday, February 7th, Nashville will host a great casino rueda instructor from Atlanta named Michael Yi aka "Chino Casino." Casino rueda is a fun Cuban style of dancing salsa where everyone does the same turn pattern and then changes partners. The first hour will be a review covering the basic skills that you will need to get the rueda going. The second hour will cover new rueda turns patterns that Chino loves to do with his group in Atlanta. Finally, the last hour will be advanced casino partner work where you learn how to dance casino outside of the circle with your partner on the dance floor. For this bootcamp, it would be helpful if you know how to do your basic step and cross body lead, but all levels are welcome. NO PARTNER NECESSARY. Kendra www.nashvillerueda.com Instructor Bio: Michael "Chino Casino" was born and raised by Cuban-Chinese parents from Bauta, Cuba. Upon arriving in Miami he was a fan of NY Salsa and Cuban music. In 1994, was a regular at the “only” Cuban music house party at the time called “Starfish” every Friday night. The original stages of Rueda de Casino and the syllabus teaching format in Miami and the U.S were created at the parties. At Salsa Lovers Dance School in 1995, the first Casino style salsa school in the U.S. he became a dancer, instructor, performer, and choreographer of Miami and Cuban style Rueda de Casino salsa. Known in the salsa community as “Chino Casino”, he competed and performed at Miami Cuban salsa institutions Club Mystique, Palladium, and Bermuda Bar. He performed on international television programs “Caliente”, “Control”, and “Sabado Gigante” on a regular basis, a regular dancer touring with Oscar de leon, Celia Cruz, El Gran combo, Willie Chirino, and Hansel y Raul. He choreographed and performed at the annual “Calle Ocho” festival in “Little Havana”, participated in the “Worlds Largest Rueda” event where more than 800 people danced in a massive rueda in the street. Chino Casino has performed and taught workshops to thousands in many salsa events in Miami and the Southeast U.S. with his fun and interactive teaching style. He is director of MY SALSA Dance School located in Johns Creek, Georgia dedicated to teaching and promoting Cuban music and dance. He has a passion to teach and promote Cuban dance and music to his students in a fun and addictive environment.
