The event creator says
Good afternoon Commodores! As this February comes to an end, Branscomb Quad presents: Dear White People. Come celebrate Black History month with copious amonts of popcorn and some college satire as we watch one of the most critically acclaimed films of the past few years. If you've spent any time on a college campus in the past decade or so, this film will make you laugh, and make you question yourself - no matter where you stand politically. If you missed it in 2014, don't miss it now! On Tuesday, February 28th at 6:30pm, grab a friend or two and make your way down to Sarratt Cinema before the place fills up. We'll have some local poets from Vandy Spoken Word and a panel of your peers on hand to help us engage with the film in a more community specific way as well. (GME DIversity and Inclusion)

New York Times critic A. O. Scott said of the film,

“Dear White People” is the name of Justin Simien’s first feature film, and I’ll say right away that it is as smart and fearless a debut as I have seen from an American filmmaker in quite some time: knowing but not snarky, self-aware but not solipsistic, open to influence and confident in its own originality. It’s a clever campus comedy that juggles a handful of hot potatoes — race, sex, privilege, power — with elegant agility and only an occasional fumble. You want to see this movie, and you will want to talk about it afterward, even if the conversation feels a little awkward. If it doesn’t, you’re doing it wrong. There is great enjoyment to be found here, and very little comfort.

Again, so much popcorn.
