Pregnancy is a time of sacred transformation in a woman's life. Her identity shifts from woman to mother. Her relationships may change. And her body certainly changes: center of gravity, blood volume, breath capacity, digestion, and circulation are all affected as her baby grows. Her yoga practice lends stability and comfort through the many changes of pregnancy. Her breath becomes a nurturing, steady presence. Asana helps her both strengthen and soften in preparation for birth.

For the woman who has a regular asana practice, sticking with her favorite class can feel grounding and reassuring. As an instructor, your compassion and a few simple modifications can help the pregnant woman feel welcome in the flow of your class. In this workshop, we'll talk about asana modifications, the changes a woman experiences throughout pregnancy, how she can take her yoga practice into her birth, and when a prenatal yoga class might be the best fit.
Taught by Jennifer Derryberry Mann, eRYT-200, RPYT, owner of Blooma Nashville, a yoga, wellness, and education studio that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit of moms-to-be, new mamas, and their families. Jenni is a mother, childbirth educator, and women's circle facilitator. She incorporates her training as a doula and rebozo instructor into her prenatal yoga classes.
