Vedic chanting is a ritual passed down orally over centuries from teacher to student. Because the Vedas are said to be śruti—heard in hearts of sages—they have been passed on precisely as they were heard.
Chanting does not require that you have musical training or a good ear, only a curiosity about exploring your voice through sacred sounds in community. This work can help us to listen deeply, heal, communicate and empower ourselves. We will learn chants to welcome Spring in addition to the basics: breathing in chanting, pronouncing Sanskrit transliteration, and listening well.
Learning is cumulative, so please plan to come to each class.
