Sewing Basics: The Chaos Pillow says
Everyone of us has stood in front of a pile of beautiful pillows at Target and debated the $30 price tag. Join Turnip Green Creative Reuse in East Nashville to repurpose that ugly pillow that has been tucked away in a closet or jammed under a bed. It could be an old bed pillow or an accent pillow that never really matched the vibe of your home. Bring it along and together we'll make something beautiful out of it with Sewing Basics: The Chaos Pillow.

The Chaos Pillow is made using a free-form sewing technique that does away with the precision-based guidelines of traditional quilting called Improvisational Quilting. With access to Turnip Green Creative Reuse's extensive Fabric Library included in the cost of instruction, you'll be able to make a beautiful, unique, unpredictable design that works perfectly for small projects like accent pillows or wall-hangings OR larger projects like window treatments or quilts. And you'll be repurposing things that might otherwise end up in a landfill!

This three-hour class will take you from sewing machine basics, to reforming your existing pillow, all the way through a completed project. You'll walk out of class with a brush-up on your sewing skills, a love of the beautiful possibilities of reuse, and a cool new accent pillow.

Register early! We expect to fill up quickly!

Class Reistration is only available in advance. Registration fees are non-refundable. QUESITONS:
Q: But I'm no good at sewing and I'm scared of quilting. Can I even do this class?
A: YES! Basic Improvisational Quilting is wildly forgiving and flexible. If you can sew a straight line, you can do this project.

Q: I used to sew, but I don't have a machine anymore. Can I still take the class?
A: Turnip Green has several machines that have been donated to their Creative Studio. If you don't have a machine to bring, you can rent one for a small $5 fee.

Q: I've never sewn before, will I be able to keep up?
A: YES! This class is a foundational class. It is structured with variations to accomodate everyone from first-time sewers to those that have sewn forever and just want to try a new project in the company of other creative people.
