Seed Space and The Pop-up Puppet Truck present "Never at Rest," a mixed-media puppet performance during September's first Saturday Art Crawl.

The pup-up puppet truck utilizes the transformed cargo area of a 2003 Ford Ranger to present pop-up puppet theater during rush hour traffic. Originating in Chicago, IL, the project aims to provide frustrated commuters with an unexpected break from the familiar stresses of everyday life. The Pop-Up Puppet Truck strives to showcase local puppeteer talent through collaboration and open calls for proposals.

The Pop-Up Puppet Truck will be traveling down to Nashville to present a collaborative piece created by project founder Donny Gettinger and comedian Ben Banach. The performance will combine puppetry, video projection, and an audio narrative to describe life at 65 miles per hour. A main show will be scheduled at the Track One parking lot (TBA), with several surprise pop-up performances taking place throughout the city during the September 3rd Art Crawl.

Donny Gettinger is an interdisciplinary artist and curator who currently resides in Minneapolis, MN. Beyond his directorial duties of The Pop-Up Puppet Truck, he maintains an active exhibition record with pieces recently displayed at the Soo Visual Arts Center (Minneapolis, MN), The American Swedish Institute (Minneapolis, MN), Foto la NaBe (Mexico City, Mexico), Young Space (Green Bay, WI), and Stay Hungry (Berlin, Germany). His work as an artist promotes the benefits of curiosity by focusing on the co-existence of humor and tension within transitional spaces. Donny received his MFA in 2014 for sculpture from the Henry Radford Hope School of Art (Bloomington, IN) and his BFA in Printmaking from Western Illinois University.

Ben Banach is a Chicago based comedian, musician, and writer. He combines his talents in a one-man podcast series titled Beautiful Night, a whimsically heavy-hearted mindscape filled with music, characters, and dark tales. He is also a regular of the Midwestern stand-up comedy scene with recent performances at Public House Theatre (Chicago, IL), The Comedy Bar (Chicago, IL), The Accord (Champaign, IL), and The Jukebox Comedy Club (Peoria, IL).
