Until the Water: At the Crossroads of Man, Land, and Water

Award-winning night photographer, Frank Relle, prepares a new collection to be hosted at the Old Felicity Church on May 16th, 2015, from 6 PM to 10 PM. The event will feature 23 limited edition photographs from his latest project UNTIL THE WATER.

At the end of last summer, I christened my first flatboat "Doucement" as a reminder to go gently through the shallow water of Louisiana's wetlands. She's a 12-foot aluminum Alweld fitted out as a floating photography and lighting craft, complete with generator power, 20-foot light stands, and a custom tripod that can be submerged 30 feet underwater.

My new series of photographs, entitled Until the Water, captures my feeling of peaceful trespass as I wander these labyrinth swamps, landscapes teeming with tree ducks and herons, gators, vultures and flying fish. The photographs reveal the intricate beauty and mystery of Louisiana's greatest resource, and I truly hope they will inspire your curiosity to explore the submerged South. If you want to spend a night floating in the swamp, let me know and I'll guide you to the right landing.
