Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy is joining the cast of Sex Education for the upcoming fourth series.

Levy is playing Thomas, a cult author and tutor of Emma Mackey’s Maeve, who is studying at Ivy League College.

Launched in 2019, the ensemble comedy follows student Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) while he navigates the trials and tribulations of teenagehood, all while discovering sex and living with his sex therapist mother (Gillian Anderson).

Joining Levy and Mackey in the fourth series will be Thaddea Graham (Doctor Who), Marie Reuther (from HBO drama Kamikaze) and newcomers Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Alexandra James and Imani Yahshua. Other returning cast members include the new Doctor Who himself, Ncuti Gatwa, as well as Aimee-Lou Wood and Connor Swindells.

Filming is underway in Wales and Netflix has shared a first look at Levy in character.

The streamer has also given Sex Education fans an idea of what to expect when the dramedy returns: ‘Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, the students are navigating new territory at the high-tech and progressive Cavendish Sixth Form College,’ runs the official synopsis. ‘It’s every health and wellness nut’s dream with yoga on the lawn, a strong sustainability vibe and even a rival sex therapist on campus.

If you’re a fan of Levy – a Dan-atic? – there’s lots more from the Canadian to look out for on Netflix. He signed a deal in 2021 that will see him producing and starring in a variety of film and TV projects for the streamer.

Variety reports that the exclusive deal reaches eight figures, with Levy previously telling the publication he has a list of ideas reaching ‘anything from thrillers to dramas, to other comedies to musicals’.
