Last week the USA finally announced a reopening date for its international borders. From November 8, double-jabbed travellers will be allowed to visit – just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

To celebrate the occasion, British Airways has unleashed a whole load of exceptional travel deals. In November, you can get a return trip from London to Tampa for just £305 and to New York for £319.

The sale covers dates stretching well into 2022, when you can bag a Tampa return for even less (£293). Other bargain destinations include Orlando (from £293), Miami (£310) and Boston (£330), while there are plenty of deals for the West Coast too, like Los Angeles (from £330), San Diego (£320) and San Francisco (£339). And if the US isn’t your thing, there are also great deals to Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in Canada.

The majority of flights depart from London Heathrow or Gatwick, though some leave from London City Airport. The lowest prices usually don’t include checked luggage – so in other words, they’re perfect for a hand-luggage-only weekend getaway.

Of course, just because international travellers can get into the US, doesn’t necessarily mean that all countries are welcoming travellers from the US. It’s best to thoroughly check travel and entry requirements for each country involved in your trip.

An added complication is the fact that, at the moment, each US state has its own quarantine rules. It’s thought that these will change by November 8, but in the meantime, you can check out our full travel guide for international visitors to the USA.

But despite all those caveats, it seems we might all be living out our best American dreams sometime very soon – and for a little less money than expected. The BA sale ends on October 27, mind, so you’ll have to be (reasonably) quick. See the British Airways website for the full range of deals.

Now read about the latest restrictions for travellers from the EU and UK – and the rules at the Mexico and Canada borders.
