Over the last few years, the digital nomad lifestyle has well and truly taken off. There are now absolutely loads of destinations offering remote work visas – so many that it can be hard to know where to start. Where will your income stretch the furthest? Where is it easy to make friends? And, crucially, where’s the beach?
To help you narrow down your decision, security specialists NordLayer just released the results of their Global Remote Work Index, which evaluated 108 countries to see which are the best for nomads. It looked at economic, infrastructure, social and cyber safety factors – and the results show one strong pattern.
It turns out that every country that made the top 10 is in Europe. The continent clearly has a lot to offer for those on the hunt for a nomadic lifestyle.
Denmark was crowned as the very best, thanks to its optimal blend of digital connectivity, social safety and super reliable healthcare. However, the country does have a high cost of living. (For those looking for a more budget-friendly destination, Peru has just announced a digital nomad visa).
The Netherlands comes in second place, thanks to its excellent social safety, and Germany came in third, ranking highest overall for cyber safety. In fourth, it’s Spain, which scored well across the board, including in digital and physical infrastructure, plus great cyber legislation.
These are the best European countries for digital nomads, according to NordLayer
VisaGuide.World conducted a study that evaluated the best countries for nomads too, but their list looks pretty different – you can have a look at that here.
