Long flights can be pretty uncomfortable affairs, to say the least. Stuck in such a tiny space for hours, even stretching or going for a walk down the aisles doesn’t do much to help.

Aussie airline Qantas knows all this stuff – and reckons it has found a way to ease the stress of long-haul flying. From 2025, the carrier will start offering ‘wellbeing zones’ on some of its longest routes. Located between the economy and premium economy cabins, the zone will feature stuff like stretch handles, on-screen exercise programs and a hydration station.

These zones will be on Qantas’ specially designed Airbus A350s and they’ll launch on some brand-new routes in late 2025. The new services will directly link Sydney with New York and London, with the latter Sydney-London route expected to take up to 22 hours. Qantas’ longstanding plans to provide direct flights between these destinations has been dubbed ‘Project Sunrise’.

Qantas says it’ll be the first airline in the world to officially offer ‘wellbeing zones’. Here are a few renders of what those zones will actually look like.

Doesn’t look too shabby, does it? Qantas created space for these zones by reducing the number of seats on its planes from 300 to 238, allowing each passenger a bit more space and comfort.
