Harry Styles is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an Eternals sequel.

While Marvel didn’t announce the sequel at the recent San Diego Comic-Con, actor and comedian Patton Oswalt broke the first rule of the MCU and leaked the news during a TV interview.

Oswalt made a brief appearance as Pip the Troll, alongside Styles’s Starfox – brother of Thanos – in an Eternals post-credits.

‘They have announced there’s going to be an Eternals sequel,’ Oswalt revealed during an appearance on America’s Today show. ‘Chloé Zhao is going to direct it. So hopefully, there will be more adventures of Starfox and Pip.’

Released in 2021 after several Covid-19 related delays, Eternals was met with a lukewarm critical response. It grossed $400 million worldwide, less than half that of the more recent Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The movie introduced the titular Eternals as an ancient race of heroes who have protected Earth through the millennia.

The movie ended with several storylines opened up for a sequel, with half of the gang facing judgment after being abducted by a celestial, while Angelina Jolie’s Thena encountered Styles’s Starfox and Oswalt’s Pip the Troll aboard a spaceship – and that’s before we even mention the reveal of Kit Harington’s Black Knight.

So while the first movie failed to excite critics or even diehard MCU fans, a sequel always seemed inevitable due to Eternals ending with more open plots than it began with.
