Some of the best parts of Netflix shows are the locations. What would ‘The Crown’ be without London, or ‘Emily in Paris’ without, er, Paris? Pointless and total shit, is the answer. And so here’s some pretty cool news: the streaming site has just launched a series of official walking tours based on its shows – and they’re totally free.
The tours include highlights from a range of different shows filmed in each city. Want to brush up on your French? There’s a two-hour trek around Paris on offer, taking in the Luxembourg Gardens, Panthéon, Pont Neuf and more. You’ll wander past the enviable restaurants featured in ‘Emily in Paris’ and stroll streets you’ll probably recognise from ‘Lupin’, before finishing up at the Notre-Dame (where else?!)
If you’re more into ‘The Crown’, ‘Bridgerton’, ‘Top Boy’ or ‘Enola Holmes’, the central London tour might be your best shout. You’ll walk through the West End, explore Leicester Square and end up at Somerset House, where literally hundreds of film and TV shoots have taken place. Learn all the insider info you could ever need (and get a good look at some of the city’s historic landmarks in the process).
For a better chance of sunshine, head on the Madrid tour, during which you’ll learn all the behind-the-scenes goss from shows like ‘Money Heist’, ‘Cable Girls’, ‘Elite’ and ‘Valeria’. It’s also a pretty stunning city in its own right, and the tour will take you past iconic non-Netflix locations like the Gran Vía.
Interested? The walking tours – run by travel company Sandemans – are only running between July 11 and 17, and spots are limited, so you’ll have to be quick. Find out how to book here.
