When it comes to identifying travel trends, they’re usually pretty obvious. They’re the places everyone’s talking about: from Lisbon and Costa Rica to London and New York, on-trend travel destinations are difficult to miss. You might’ve even been to a few of them.

If you’ve been wondering which destinations were most on-trend in 2022, well, here we’ve got the lowdown. Google, as part of its annual Year in Search lowdown, has revealed which were the top trending destinations on its flight search site Google Flights.

In this case, ‘trending’ means that people have been searching for flights to these destinations. In other words, people might’ve actually visited the destinations – or they could have just been dreaming away, casually browsing flights in their spare time.

Top of the pile this year came London, which is, TBH, not much of a surprise. One of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, the UK capital is a treasure trove of fabulous stuff to see and do. Following London were Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and Paris – which are both equally well-regarded travel hotspots.

According to data shared by Google with Thrillist, these were 2022’s top trending destinations.

  1. London, UK
  2. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
  3. Paris, France
  4. Delhi, India
  5. Toronto, Canada
  6. Rome, Italy
  7. Mumbai, India
  8. Vancouver, Canada
  9. Lisbon, Portugal
  10. New York, USA
