It’s that time of year again – everything is suddenly covered in love hearts and the shops are filled with giant cards, giant teddies and giant bouquets. Yep, Valentine’s Day is only next week, and whether you’ve got a partner or you’re planning your palentines, love is on everyone’s mind.

Including the pros at Airbnb – but when marriage proposals at properties across the platform have more than tripled in the last five years, it’s hardly surprising. One location has hosted that special moment for more than 100 couples. 100.

So, to mark the international day of love, Airbnb has compiled a list of the stays where love really is in the air. From sixteenth-century hideaways in Scotland to mountain-top caravans in the US, these are the Airbnb properties that have hosted the most proposals.

The Machinery Shed, Australia

It might not look like it, but this charming cabin was actually once a machinery shed, built around 125 years ago. But now it’s a dazzling little spot tucked away in Blackheath, looking onto the Blue Mountain cliffs.
