Like something from a Dalí painting, the sea and sky appear to merge, bound seamlessly by a series of leafless, symmetrical trees. But it’s not a painting. It’s a really, really phenomenal photograph.
The shot was taken by photographer Ben Goode on Lake Bonney in South Australia. It came third place in the eighth International Landscape Photographer of the Year awards. That’s right, it wasn’t even the best – it came third. Two shots were officially better but, in truth, the ILPOTY’s 2021 edition had literally hundreds of gobsmacking images (all of which are conveniently collected in an e-book here).
