We stumbled on the Café ÆR Chiquito during a long slog back up the Rue Pentue de Ménilmontant. The pretty copper counter, Bordeaux red banquettes and charming, open interior drew us in for a drink and a breather. Managed by a friendly, enthusiastic staff, the space is billed as a ‘neo-urban bistro and cultural laboratory’, hosting exhibitions, concerts, film screenings and DJ sets. Drink prices are low (and even lower during happy hour) with Ricard at €2.50, wine from €3-€4.50, cocktails ranging from €6-€10 and pints of Stella, Chouffe and Demory between €4.50 and €7. The bar is also open until 5am on weekends, all the more reason to make ÆR Chiquito your latest late-night haunt.
