Review
Far from the incessant tumult of the boulevards, it’s a pleasure to get lost in the Ménilmontant neighbourhood. And at the junction of two quiet little paved streets you find the Café-théâtre Popul'air, whose terrace, rammed fit to bust, is testament to its huge success. There’s a welcoming atmosphere and chepa drinks, but the point here is the affordable performances (usually around €10 and sometimes free). Every week a series of one man shows, comedy sketches and burlesque concerts is put on in the convivial little room Monday through Saturday – the sort where you can sit and have a drink with the performer afterwards. The drinks are very reasonable, so you won’t bankrupt yourself in the pursuit of young, as yet undiscovered talents. For the bar’s full programme, click here.
