Apron? Check. White hat? Check. And clean hands? Check. Multi-Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse is one of the world’s best chefs; and while here, in his cooking school, we can’t guarantee you’ll become a top ‘cuisiner’ yourself, you’ll certainly have fun trying. Classes in English include “All about chou pastry”, which teaches you how to master cakes like ‘Paris Brest’ and chocolate éclairs; “Bistro Cuisine”, which includes recipes from Ducasse’s institutions Benoit and Rech; “Grand Cuisine” with techniques from the Plaza Athénée; and “Macaron madness”, by the end of which you will be an expert (or seeing spots). Lesson prices range from €140-€330 for half to full days. If pots and pans are too much for you to handle, you can still improve your palate with oenology lessons on Thursday nights (7-9pm; €80).
