Opened in 2012, The Lab decided in 2014 that it was high time for a revamp. The formerly plain walls are now covered from top to bottom in graffiti. Or rather, from left to right: the venue is long, narrow and low-roofed, and fits only a handful of chairs and a sofa. The claustrophobic and the nicotine-hungry can head outside, where two barrels serve as makeshift tables. The Palace of Versailles it ain't.
The reason to come to The Lab is its fantastic range of cocktails (€6 during happy hour; €8 otherwise). Spirits of all stripes are mixed with fruit of all seasons. The mixologists are open to requests, though for our money the Wild Berry Collins (gin, red fruit purée, lemon, Perrier) and the Green as Ginger (gin, basil, ginger, lemon) can't be beat. Alcohol-inspired tapas are served up to complement your beverage: foie gras, peppered duck filet and the like. Not content just to pleasure your taste buds, the bar also serves up DJ sets from Thursday to Sunday, and runs a hairdresser upstairs.
