Opened in September 2016, it’s difficult to match the secret room at 9 hotel Montparnasse – a verdant and rustic shack-style, we challenge you to find anything like it in the capital. Although it’s not perched up high like a treehouse, you do have to cross a small footbridge to get to it – and it’s completely separate from the rest of the hotel. With the door closed, you could be in a pinewood forest, miles from Paris. Built from floor to ceiling in wood, La Cabane combines a country setting with ultra-modern comfort: a cocoon for urbanites craving a break from the world.
The bathroom is a complete contrast – with anthracite tones, it straddles the mineral and the technological world. Imagine a wooden hut with Japanese toilets and a shower illuminated with tiny dotted lights. Everything is simple and everything has a purpose.
