Time Out says

Set in one of the last surviving alleys of studios, this was home to Marie Vassilieff, whose academy and cheap canteen - 'la Cantine des Artistes' - welcomed poor artists, including famous names such as Picasso, Cocteau, Matisse, Braque and Modigliani. Trotsky and Lenin were also guests. Shows focus on present-day artists and the area's creative past.
