Fireworks Festival : Tunng + Barbarossa

The second edition of Fireworks Festival, that delightfully ragtag celebration of rock, folk and electronica which lit up the Parisian night last February, is back with a banger of an opening night. The lineup brings together two luminaries of the London 'folktronica' scene. Headlining are Tunng, whose psychedelic yet curiously bucolic tunes first came to our attention when the band opened for Tinariwen's 2009 tour. On supporting duties are the lesser-known Barbarossa, essentially a vehicle for singer-songwriter James Mathé, whose gentle vocals would evoke José González if his lyrics and lilting accent weren't so ineffably British. So come down with your umbrellas and your casks of ale – for one night only, London will be recreated in Paris.
