The Institut du Monde Arabe is best known for its exhibitions on Middle Eastern culture and its zany mechanical architecture. But once in a blue moon the institute stages raves on its outdoor terrace, and in early June it will host one of the city's biggest house/techno events, Weather Festival.
Things kick off in a big way on Friday June 6 with an evening party headlined by Mount Kimbie. The English duo burst onto the UK scene in 2010 with their wild electro-acoustic album 'Crooks & Lovers' and their collaborations with post-step poster boy James Blake; a more dance-friendly follow up last year, 'Cold Spring Fault Less Youth', only widened their fanbase. Sharing the bill are Timeline, the latest jazz-techno project from Detroit-based collective Underground Resistance, and German techno pioneer Moritz von Oswald. And that's only the opening night...
