Citrus Etoile restaurant in Paris two short steps from the Champs-Elysees is a brilliant star in the capital's culinary firmament. Chef Gilles Epie, Michelin-starred at 22, decamped for Japan and America where he ran Los Angeles' greatest French restaurant, l'Orangerie. Now back at home in Paris with his American wife Elizabeth, a former model, he has brought all the freshness, innovation, and style of the City of Angels to his Right Bank eaterie. The decor is clear and light, with pale gray walls, Hermes orange upholstery and details, sunlight and fresh flowers. The neo-Californian menu features no fat and little sauce and changes constantly -- retaining the 'greatest hits' -- with dishes like foie gras in celery root remoulade with truffles rolled like sushi, steamed calf's liver with tofu and cucumber tartare, John Dory fillet with roasted figs. Elizabeth welcomes you to a restaurant peopled with politicians and stars from every discipline. Citrus Etoile is a great now-generation restaurant.
