It might not like to blow its own trumpet, but Gaou’s remarkable way with a raclette wasn’t going to be a secret for long, even on this charming, unassuming little street in Paris’ 11th arrondissement. An intimate, family run restaurant made to resemble a Swiss chalet, Gaou is so welcoming that even the snake mascot greeting you at reception comes across as a rather friendly fellow. The racelette portions are refreshingly as generous as the welcome is warm, and for those not keen on the cheese, a good selection of traditional French dishes and vegetarian options are equally tempting.
