L’Avel restaurant deep in Paris’ 15th arrondissement enjoys such a brilliant Eiffel Tower view from its terrace that you may never want to budge. It’s heated in winter, too. The décor inside is a combination of classic and modern, with wooden floors, red wood tables and chairs, marine bleu banquettes and drapes, sleek lighting, chalkboard specials and plenty of mirrors to reflect the light. The effect is smart and relaxed. The menu combines the best of regional French cuisine with the freshest of seasonal seafood. Try the Marseillaise-style bouillabaisse and sauerkraut with seafood and beurre Nantais. Recently chef Laurent Debus has taken over the kitchen and added innovations like lobster salad with shrimp and lemongrass to the carte. Fine service and oooh la la that view.
